The only location that wasn’t available was Winfield House, the actual residence of the American ambassador
Chronology
In the midst of an international crisis, career diplomat Kate Wyler finds herself in a high-profile job she’s ill-suited for, which will affect her marriage and political future. The producers have convinced both the US and British governments to allow the series to use real-life locations, including most recently the US embassy (Nine Elms), which opened in 2018. The UK allowed filming in the Foreign Secretary’s office, a rare honor for any film or screen production, especially an American one. Although it’s accurately described as occupying the largest residential plot (11 acres) in London, in addition to Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming.
Shown at the 75th Emmy Awards (2024)
There was a moment, I think it was somewhere in the middle of the first season of the series, when one of the subplots went a little bit in a different direction than I expected, and that was good. Otherwise, the dysfunctional relationships – both personal and professional – between the main characters somehow work, and I like that. The writers did a good job of keeping the action clearly focused. Both the characters and the plot work.
Are they believable?
Sure, it’s not particularly believable, but it’s fun and tense at times. There’s no “Madam Secretary of State”; and there’s no “Vice President.” And that’s very good. I should also mention that the acting and dialogue are also quite good. The casting was well done.
But that’s normal
Again, no. I realized very quickly that this is fantasy, not reality. Netflix has done a good job in this area. I’m looking forward to season 2.
